Exmouth claim huge victory over Sidmouth and stay top of the Francis Clark Devon League

Exmouth bagged their finest result of the Francis Clark Devon league season to date when they defeated Sidmouth by three wickets in a thrilling contest at the Maer ground.

The visitors batted first on another glorious sun-kissed afternoon and closed on 237-8 from their 50 overs.

Trevor Anning, Gary Chappell and Lawrence Greenway each bagged a brace of wickets.

For the second week running Sandy Allen played a superb innings from the opening slot, going on to make 81 whilst Seb Benton matched his efforts in the win seven days before at Bradninch when he again slotted a half century, finally dismissed for 82 as Exmouth got home with five balls remaining with Gary Chappell (15) and Mark Orchard (10) the not out batsmen at the close.
