Archant

THIS Coming Sunday (August 22), the Maer ground hosts a day of cricket not to be missed.

Exmouth Cricket Club are playing host to the Regional Finals of the ECB Twenty20 Club Cup Competition.

The day’s programme will see four teams arrive at the Maer with Sidmouth flying the flag for the Francis Clark Devon League.

Sidmouth are involved in the first of the day’s three matches with their semi-final seeing them take on the Champions of the Cornwall Premier League, St Just.

The first game gets under way at 10.30am and is to be followed by the West of England League Champions, Frocester taking on Welwyn Garden City.

The final starts around 3.30pm and the winners will go to the national finals at the Rose Bowl home of Hampshire CC with that particular day’s Twenty20 cricket screened by SKY TV.

All four teams are expected to bring healthy followings to the ground and an excellent atmosphere seems guaranteed.

There’s plenty of room also for the impartial supporter who simply wants to get along, hopefully enjoy splendid weather and certainly marvel at some crash bang cricket of the highest order.

The Maer ground catering team will be at full stretch providing refreshments throughout the day.

So, if you are wondering what to do this coming Sunday, why not make your way down to the Maer ground opposite the Exmouth sea-front.
