Exmouth all set for last big seven

Exmouth banked 19 points as they defeated title rivals Sidmouth in the Francis Clark Devon League Match of the Day at the Maer ground, writes Stephen Birley.
After restricting the visitors to 237-8 fro their 50 overs, the Maer men got home with three wickets and five deliveries remaining with Mark Orchard and Gary Chappell the not out batsmen after splendid knocks from Seb Benton and Sandy Allen.
It was sweet revenge for the defeat they suffered to the Fortfield outfit six days before in the group final of the Devon Twenty20 competition.
What the victory means is that if Exmouth can win each of their final seven games then they will be crowned the 2013 champions.
Of course, there’s plenty of cricket to be played between now and the final game of the campaign on the last Saturday of August, but Exmouth are in the best possible place from which to launch a victorious run in to the finishing line.
They must still play the third of the title contenders, Bovey Tracey, and face tricky games with Exeter, North Devon and Plymouth.
They must also meet strugglers Torquay and Cornwood and have to come up against one of only three teams to beat them this season – neighbours Budleigh over the course of the nest seven weeks.
