EXMOUTH 2nd XI slipped to a 38 run defeat at Plympton II and, five games into the new Premier Division 2nd XI competition, they and neighbours Budleigh Salterton, remain the only top flight sides yet to taste victory.Batting first, the home side declared on a commanding 260-8, Kamran Ashfaq was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 90 runs. The reply was solid enough, with the top run scorers being Grant Northover (29) and David Loman (60), but wickets fell at regular intervals and, when the final one fell, the reply was 38 runs shy.Next up for the 2nd XI is attempt number six to gain that first win of the season when they travel to Exeter.
