EXMOUTH Under-10s entertained Countess Wear at the Maer ground for a paors match.

On a glorious Sunday morning the home side batted first and closed on 193-4 with all four pairings amongst the runs. Ryan Schalefli and Sam Austin, led the way with 32,

Jack Sylvester and Ben Richardson scored 26 whilst Luke Davies and Max Reader chipped in with 25 and there were a dozen runs scored by the pairing of Ieuan Kidd and Adam Frost.

The visitors were then restricted to 161-6 leaving Exmouth winners by a margin of 32 runs.

Luke Davies was the pick of the home bowlers with 3-7 from three splendid overs. Indeed young Davies was on a hat-trick for, after hitting the stumps in successive deliveries, his third ball was equally straight and wrapped the batsmen’s stumps.

Leg before is of course not given in such games otherwise young Davies may well have been celebrating. Standing Umpire to his bowling was his Father Mark! So perhaps it was not a bad thing that leg before could not be asked for with Dad to make the decision on a hat-trick ball!
