Exmouth Cricket Club has launched a new scheme at the Maer ground.

The club has decided to reward excellent play in matches by awarding players who score a century or take a hat-trick of wickets in any one match.

The achievement will be marked with the presentation of a bottle of champagne for the player.

The new initiative was very well received by the players. The initiative comes from Allan Tyson, the chairman of cricket at the club.

Our picture shows Mr Tyson presenting the first winner of the award, 1st XI seamer Mike Cliff, who bowled a hat-trick in the game against Cornwood on Jne 12, and is seen here receiving his bottle on the steps of the Pavilion.
