Exmouth III were 34 run winners at Newton Poppleford where they defeated Uplyme and Lyme Regis.
Sean Butler produced the Man of the Match contribution with a top score of 39 and then claimed five wickets for just seven runs!
Butler apart, there were useful contributions from Grant Northover (23) and Ethan Hodge (20) as Exmouth were bowled out for 120.
The reply was dominated by the bowling of Butler who sent down six overs to claim his 5-7 with three of his wickets being catches, all held in the slips by Grant Northover! Northover also did his bit with the ball, claiming 3-5 from half a dozen overs as the Uplyme reply was done and dusted for the princely sum of 86.
A delighted Exmouth skipper Tom Samford said: “Sean’s contribution was excellent and belied his tender age of 14 years! He batted so well in what were difficult conditions for batting as the wicket was on the very sloe side and the ball kept low, but he dug in and showed us all how to apply yourself correctly.”
