BOTH Budleigh sides were denied by the rain on matchday seven of the Francis Clark Devon League season.

The senior side had been sue to host second from bottom Plympton at Ottermouth but the weather prevented a single ball being bowled.

The same applied to the Budleigh II game which had been set for Plympton and that too was called off without a ball being delivered in anger.

What the combined inactivity means is that the 1st XI now sit fourth, four points behind second placed Sidmouth and 28 shy of leaders North Devon.

Next up is Saturday’s home game with rapidly improving Bovey Tracey who sit two places and twelve points below the Ottermouth men in the table.

For the Budleigh II the afternoon off left them mid-table in the 2nd XI top flight on 80 points, 22 above the drop zone and 39 short of leaders Plymouth.

On Saturday they travel to a Bovey Tracey side who will start the day two places, and six points, better off than them.
