Budleigh CC Secretary Kevin Curran was understandably delighted with his club’s two victories over Sidmouth at the weekend.

He said: “Whilst we have much to be so thankful for at Ottermouth in terms of the early season’s performances, particularly from our quality County trio of Sandy Allen, Bob Dawson and James Burke, it was very pleasing for us to witness major contributions fro other players in the side in the Sidmouth success. The middle order really did dig deep and deliver the goods. At four down and only forty on the board we could so easily have caved in but the contribution of bowling duo Scott Barlow and Joel Murphy was central to how the game was eventually won. The pair were under immense pressure out I the middle and both gave their all for the cause and it is indeed much appreciated. Then it was left to the younger lads, Charlie Morris and Lloyd Murrin to see us over the line and my, how the young lads stood up to the challenge. The icing on a splendid cake was the success of the second eleven in also toppling a fine Sidmouth side making it a tremendous weekend for al concerned at our club.”

Both Budleigh sides look very capable of mounting challenges for top honours in their respective Divisions.

This weekend the 1st XI play the first of two successive home matches when they entertain Plympton whist the 2nd XI make the trip down the Devon Expressway to face Plympton II.
