Topsham St James U15s won their first match of the season in a 10-a-side game with Alphington.

Topsham won the toss, put the Alphas in and took a wicket in the first over!

Some tight early overs with the new ball by the Topsham opening bowlers were rewarded with two wickets in an over for Jay Warren.

Despite a spirited batting by the Alphington skipper, wickets fell at the opposite end with the final one falling on 94. In that Alphas total was a moist charitable 46 extras!

Dean Pym (3-19), Toby Criss (1-14), Owen Rumsey (1-18) and Sam Bowker (1-6), were the Topsham wicket takers.

The run chase did not make the best of starts with the loss of two early wickets. However, Sam Bowker first steadied the innings and then went into a new gear, striking the ball to all parts of the ground on his way to an unbeaten 41.

Tom Veale gave the best of the supporting knocks with an unbeaten 23 as a seven wicket win was sealed with a full in overs left to bowl.
