Exmouth were comfortable winners in a 40-over warm-up game with fellow Francis Clark Devon League top flight outfit Bradninch.

Batting first the Maer men closed on 180-8 led there by Trevor Anning’s unbeaten 53 off 57 balls. Sandy Allen opened the innings and weighed in with a 38-ball knock of 31 and David Lye chipped in with 25.

The Mid Devon side, fielding their two new imports for this season’s League campaign, Uffculme-based Jackson Thompson, Indian born and former Middlesex and Gloucestershire professional, qualified to play for England, as he has been in this Country since he was 10, and 18-year-old Matthew Vercoe-Curtis, who hails from Auckland, New Zealand, were then bundled out for a paltry 93 with no fewer than 32 being in the form of extras! V Parvathanen finished with impressive figures of 4-12 in five overs whilst George Greenway claimed 2-11 in five overs.

The two sides go head-to-head again in a fortnight’s time at the Maer ground in the opening game of the new League season.
