It has been a tough start to the season for Exmouth 2nds in C Division East of the Devon Cricket League.
A two-wicket defeat at home to Heathcoat 2nds keeps Exmouth down the bottom of the league, although they can take heart from a spirited display, particularly with the ball. Richard Baggs (62) top scored for Exmouth as they reached a total of 186/9.
Sean Day was superb with the ball for Exmouth, taking 4/19, while Greg Marks and Sam Goodier also bagged a brace of wickets but Heathcoat just got over the line with two wickets to spare.
Budleigh Salterton 2nds are just behind leaders Whimple in D Division East. A fabulous unbeaten 110 from Theo Northover helped Budleigh reach 192/7 in their game at Shobrooke Park. He was backed up by the bowlers, Sean Butler and Lee Russell taking three each, as the hosts were dismissed for 128.
