Conservative Club sits clear at top of Exmouth Snooker League

With the Exmouth Snooker League entering its final round of fixtures, the Conservative Club holds a handsome lead, due largely to beating the Police Social B by five frames to nil on three of their four encounters.

John Sharland 71-58, Iain Callander 84-67, Tim Parker 78-49, Dion Newcombe 66-55 and Dave Lance 68-65 kept the Police B rooted at the foot of the table.

They met sterner resistance from the visit of the Police C, but, after losing the opening frames to Eric James 86-78(33) and Bob Alexander 67-55, John Sharland 45-34 and Dave Lance 89-60, secured their ninth match win so far.

East Budleigh are second, despite consecutive defeats on the Police Club table. Barry Bentley 76-32 won their sole point against the defending champions, Police A. There, Carl Rowsell 82-47, Rob Pow 57-45, Pete Abrahams 65-35 and Mike Delahaye 79-67 have faint hopes of retaining their title, even with two games in hand.

East Budleigh lead the Police C by two points in the table, thanks to wins for Alan Farrant 96(27)-52 and Mark Auton 88(21,23)-34. But, the 3-2 winning score came from John Anderson 49-17, John Parrott 62-43 and John Evens 47-12
