Exe ladies' 1st XI were 4-3 winners when they met Bristol Firebrands in a West Premier One meeting.
Exe got off to a flying start as their first attack resulted in a goal for Emily Mitchem. However, Firebrands responded almost immediately, taking advantage of a bouncing ball to set up a two-versus-one attack that saw them score to level at 1-1.
It got better for Firebrands as they took the lead through a crash ball into the circle and a lucky deflection, and they carried the advantage into the interval.
The second half started with a series of goalmouth scrambles for Exe, but some exceptional goalkeeping denied them.
The pressure continued and when Exe won a short corner it was rifled home by Julie Allison to even things up once more.
Exe then capitalised on their momentum through an accurate strike from Emily Mitchem from another short corner to edge into a 3-2 lead. However, with two minutes left, Firebrands hit back to level things up at 3-3.
Exe, though, were determined to find a fourth goal to win the contest and it duly arrived inside the final 10 seconds when Ellie Colton managed to squeeze the ball home.
