Archant

Exe II were 2-0 winners when they met Plymouth Marjons in a Women’s South West Premier 1 fixture.

Exe were the brighter of the sides in the first half and only some exceptional goalkeeping denied Emma Dupain and Bridget Culver; the opening goal.

At the other end of the pitch the Exe defensive line-up was being well marshalled and rarely looked threatened.

With Laura Allen and, Player of the Match, Molly Coleman, orchestrating things, it was no surprise when Exe did take the lead five minutes into the second half.

A series of penalty corners ended with the ball being crossed for Laura Allen to open her account for the season.

With 15mins to go an aerial ball from Helen Bray fell for Molly Coleman on the 25-yard line, she made a beeline for the ‘D’ and put the ball invitingly towards the goal where Meg Pearson beat the onrushing keeper to slot the ball home and complete the scoring.
