Exmouth Pavilions will be packed to the rafters for a night of mixed martial arts when cage fighting comes to town on Saturday, June 25.
The next Cage Fight instalment from Strength and Honour, who have now teamed up with ‘KnuckleUp’, will take place.
Six fighters from Exmouth’s Lions Den will be on the card as well as professional and semi-professional’s from all over the country, including the ‘Wolfslair’ in Liverpool.
Headlining the fight night is Exmouth’s Kev Donnelly who has a rematch with seasoned professional Sami Berik from London. This will be Donnelly’s third fight in just seven weeks.
In that period he, and coach Dave Matthews, have travelled as far afield as Ireland and Sweden. Donnelly finds time to squeeze his busy martial arts schedule in with his regular work of training recruits at CTC Lympstone.
Dave Matthews, speaking on just how Donnelly manages to combine such a busy schedule said: “There are no excuses, if you don’t do it your going to get your head taken off, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is not like any other sport, you can be punched, elbowed, knee’d, kicked, wrestled, thrown, swept and then when you get to the floor it continues, it really is the Ultimate Competition to test yourself.
This Saturday (June 18), a Cage is being set up in the Strand to introduce the Exmouth public to the sport of MMA, a children’s session will be taking place as well as the adults, from 11am to around 4pm.
