The Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club U13 team played twice in a week and came away with two convincing wins.
In the first fixture against Sidmouth, Jack Larmour won the toss and elected to field first, limiting the opposition to 81 for 5 from 20 overs.
During their batting innings, the BSCC team reached the target in just 10 overs, winning the match decisively.
They then played their fourth match of the season against Seaton, with Josie Larmour winning the toss and electing to bat first. In their 20 overs, Budleigh scored 110 for 8, with George Mills scoring 33, and then restricted Seaton to 61 for 9, with Luke Hoban taking 3 for 8.
In perfect cricket conditions on Sunday, the BSCC U12s beat Ottery convincingly. They fielded first, and bowled Ottery out for just 52 runs, with superb bowling from Daniel Grace, who took 5 wickets for only 2 runs. They then easily passed this total in their batting innings, and went on to score 147, with Alex Roper scoring 27 not out.
The BSCC U11 team won a cup match away to Clyst St George on Monday evening. After an unfortunate run out in the second over, Alex Roper and Jasper Bubb batted for almost the entire innings.
Despite a late flurry of wickets, Budleigh set a target of 111 to beat in 20 overs. In the end, Clyst St George weren’t able to match Budleigh’s batting performance, and they finished 51 runs short.
The Budleigh U10 hardball team played away against Ottery, with Ottery winning by 84 runs. During their bowling innings, Budleigh’s Izzy Chowes and Maisie Eade limited the opposition’s score by giving away just four runs each in their overs, and Isla Dixon made a great catch.
Charlie Eade opened the batting by scoring an amazing 23 runs from 2 overs, including five 4s, and new cricket player Boddy Ralph scored 13 runs in a strong batting performance but ultimately the team lost too many wickets.
Thanks to sponsors Devon Property Surveyors and Servicemaster, to the coaches for preparing the teams and umpiring the junior matches, and thanks as always to Ray Dawson for taking care of and maintaining the pitch.
