As a result of another fine victory, Budleigh's team sit proudly on top of the Exonia evening league table.

Wally Nickels, Leighton Burston, Peter Burch and Paul Griffin were in dominant form and the Crusaders, the previous joint leaders, were defeated by 23 shots to 7.

In the Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league fixture involving the Hawks and the Buzzards, it was the latter who swooped to conquer, but can this reporter be forgiven for repeating such an old chestnut?

Leighton Burston, Peter Burch and John Dill salvaged two points for Hawks, winning 17-13, but the evening belonged to John Vanstone, Keith Ward and Paul Griffin, who’s nine- shot win ensured overall victory for the Buzzards

Rink honours were also shared when Exonia met the Madeira Blues. Keith Weeks’ Blues won by two shots but Exonia were clear winners by 54 to 34.

The weekend friendly at Dawlish was cancelled due to floodwater entering their clubhouse, which we understand will be unusable for some weeks.

Fortunately the recent storms have inflicted no such damage to our facilities in Cricket Field Lane and it is business as usual.
