BUDLEIGH head into match day eight of the Francis Clark Devon League season in buoyant mood after chalking up their first top flight victory of the campaign last weekend.

Fresh from their nine wicket win at Braunton, Budleigh take to their Ottermouth pitch for a meeting with a Sidmouth side who returned to the top of the Premier Division table after last Saturday's three wicket win at Paignton.

Sidmouth are of course, the back to back reigning Champions and hold an eight point lead at the top of the table after their win in South Devon and previous leaders North Devon suffering a surprise 38 run defeat to Plymouth.

Sidmouth's season was launched with a weather hit game at home to North Devon and then, on match day two they took a winning draw from their visit to Plymouth.

Next up a first win of the season and a 132 home victory over Braunton before match day four and a trip to Bradninch who they comfortably beat by five wickets.

On match day five Sidmouth hosted an Exeter side that they beat with something to spare whilst, on match day six they conquered Bovey Tracey by seven wickets. Last Saturday Sidmouth claimed that victory at Paignton to regain control of the top flight.

With Joel Murphy bang in form - he claimed a fivefer last weekend, his second of the campaign, and he now has fourteen wickets to his name, it should be a contest worth taking at Ottermouth on Saturday (1pm).
