Budleigh sit joint top of the Exonia Evening League Division Two table, writes Don Huish.

It’s a four match winning sequence that has lifted the Budleigh travelling squad to the summit.

Their latest fixture saw Paul Griffin skipping Wally Nickels, John Vanstone and Richard Cooper to a comfortable 24-11 win over the Crusaders.

The Hawks continue to impress in the Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league, and, in their latest match, came within two shots of beating Exonia, and toppling the Exeter side is certainly no easy task!

David Blackwell, Tim Holding and skip Peter Burch did well to win their encounter 18-14.

On the second rink, Exonia scored three shots on the final end to dash hopes of a Hawks victory and a move to the top of the table. The final score was 30-29 in favour of Exonia.

The result of the home friendly against Padbrook Park of Cullompton was decided only on the final end. Rink honours were shared with John Dill’s rink of Wally Nickels, John Vanstone and Peter Burch scoring a single on the 21st end to win their match 22–15 leaving the aggregate score tied at 35-all.
