Goals aplenty at Vicarage Road last Saturday as East Budleigh Reserves began their season in Joma League 4 with a crushing 9-2 victory over Bravehearts.

The visitors struck as early as the third minute before Budleigh levelled five minutes later - the Bravehearts stopper saving a shot from Ross Bright only for Tom Marker to pick up the rebound.

A Dan Atkinson effort was cleared as far as Ryan Britton who lashed his shot into the net for the second.

The away side managed to level and would have scored again but for a top drawer save from Budleigh keeper Drew Shorrock.

Just after the half hour the hard working Sam Balbi hit the bar and it was Nathan Penhallurick that was on hand to tap in, before Budleigh added a fourth from a Tom Christian free-kick.

The second half saw Marker and Atkinson respectively make it five and six.

Bravehearts missed a penalty and Nick Tweedie cleared off the line before George Harris set up Jack Howarth whose accomplished finish made it seven. Balbi deservedly scored the eighth.

Six minutes Howarth netted his second and Budleigh’s ninth.

Man of the Match went to Marker. Budleigh are at South Zeal this Saturday, The First X1 start their Division 1 campaign by hosting Chard (both 3pm).
