It is always an exciting time when any competitions reach their semi-final stages and that is no exception at the Budleigh Bowls Club.

In the Ladies’ round robin four wood championship Marilyn Foreman will play Rosemary Carter and Mo Bond will play Gwen Hurst for a place in the final. In the 106 competition Mo already in the final will wait the winner of Gwen and Penny Weeks.
The Two wood competition sees Penny play Hilary Medley and in the other semi final Gwen will play Marilyn.
In the Mens’ Novice round robin competition Graham Anderson will play Norman Upchurch whilst Peter Evans will meet Andy Skudder for a place in the final.
Andy Cardy is already through to the Mens’ knockout championship semi final with a late comeback in his match with Bryan Membery 22-16 whilst in the two wood David Roberts will play Graham Anderson and Brian Ward awaits the winner of Peter Cooper and Paul Griffin.
The Pairs competitions saw an amazing finish as Andy Skudder and Penny Weeks took seven shots on end 16 to take the lead for the first time only for Annie Clarke and Andy Cardy to hit back with a score of six on the last end to take the match 24-22.
In the Mens’ Exeter and District Triples league there was a great overall away win 33-21 against Marina (Dawlish) as Paul Griffin, Peter Cooper and Andy Cardy won on their rink 19-10 whilst Brian Ward, Bryan Membery and David Roberts held their nerve to take their match 14-11.

Against Hemyock it was a different story as there was a 25-35 overall home loss and with only two matches remaining it is important that the team get back to winning ways as they travel to North Tawton.

Marilyn Foreman, Peter Foreman and Mo Bond represented the club in the Axon Cup at Phear Park and on the following day the club were back there in a friendly triples match. On both occasions there was little success for Budleigh. Phear Park won the Axon Cup and whilst the club lost the friendly by ten shots 70-80 there was some joy for Ann Vincent, Jackey Phillips and skip Brian Goddard as they won their rink 25-10.
