Budleigh bowlers prove red hot on chilly Exeter night

Budleigh captain Peter Burch took three rinks to Dawlish for a mixed friendly and was rewarded with a three-shot victory.

Budleigh won on two rinks and the combined score was 70 to 67.

Leighton Burston, Chris Loman, Burges Stace and John Dill won 29-17, whilst the captain’s rink almost matched that winning margin with their 24-13 success.

The latest fixture in the Exonia evening league’s programme saw Budleigh paired with the Cowboys.

On a night when temperatures in Exeter were plunging towards freezing point Don Huish, Leighton Burston, Paul Griffin and Peter Burch were too hot to handle and raced into an early lead scoring 11 shots without reply after five ends!

The game continued in similar fashion with Budleigh finishing comfortable 33-5 winners to climb to the top of the league table.

In the Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league Exonia, last year’s champions, moved off the foot of the table beating Sidmouth on both rinks 42-31.

Madeira Reds currently top the league with the Budleigh Falcons foiling a Madeira one-two in leading the Blues by three points.
