THE Budleigh A, over-60s League team continued their impressive start to the season last week, writes Paul Griffin.

The side recorded a brace of victories with the first being a visit to Okehampton A from where they returned with seven of the eight points safely banked.

They won one rink outright and shared the spoils on the other thanks to an overall 32-26 overall victory. In this match Alan Cottle’s triple of John Vanstone and Tony Stone recovered from an early deficit to win 19-13.

On the other rink Ron Tyler’s triple of Paul Griffin and Burges Stace drew a low scoring game in which the lead changed hands a number of times, 13-13.

In the second match, a home fixture against Feniton A, Budleigh were 29-22 victors with the rinks shared.

The home side’s winning rink, which finished strongly to win 22-7, was skipped by Alan Cottle with Graham Ellis and Archie Autton.

The Budleigh B side weren’t so fortunate, they travelled to Topsham and lost 38-28.

On Sunday Budleigh entertained Honiton in a six rink mixed triples and despite losing on four of the rinks they won 108-89 overall.

The victory was achieved because of impressive victories by two of the Budleigh triples.

The first, skipped by Burges Stace with Rita De-Selincourt and Greg Fish, won 28-6, and the second, skipped by Angie Fish with Alf Wallen and Stuart Butler won 25-7.
