East Devon Tennis Centre junior stars Liberty and Isabella Brown warmed up well for the forthcoming outdoor tennis season by putting in fine performances at the David Lloyd Grade Three event at Bristol, writes Tony Atkins. The two sisters were at the heart of the action, with Isabella having a super run in the girls' 14 and under singles, where she missed out on the title after losing to Dominique Covington (Avon) 6-1, 6-1 in the final.Along the way, Isabella, playing some good tennis, posted some fine results with success over Georgina Miles-Hilpern (Avon) 6-4, 6-4, Eliff Gabb (Surrey) 6-3, 6-0, Sophie Butland (Somerset) 6-0, 6-3 and Sophie Haine (Wilts) 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.In the girls' 16 and under singles, it was Avon's Dominique Covington who once again proved a stumbling block for Isabella, who had beaten Somerset junior Sophie Butland 6-4, 6-1, before losing to Covington 6-2, 6-1. Liberty Brown also did very well as she battled through to the quarter-finals of the 16 and under event and in the latter stages beat Emily Perry (Avon) 6-2, 6-0 and Claire Sawyer (Dorset) 7-6, 6-0 before falling to Lauren Hill (Dorset) 6-1, 6-4.
