STRONG winds made for challenging conditions in the late May Stableford Competition, with only three players managing to reduce their handicaps.
STRONG winds made for challenging conditions in the late May Stableford Competition, with only three players managing to reduce their handicaps.Nonetheless there was plenty of good, competitive golf played with the countback system called into action in two of the Divisions contested.The most impressive round was by Angela Ward, who scored 41 points, which reduced her handicap from 30 to 26.The Silver Division was won by Carole Brailey with 33pts whilst the 2nd and 3rd places were decided by the count-back rule and that saw Sheila Mathieson pip Helen Chivers, both players finishing just a point behind the winner on 32 points. A point further back in 4th was Jill Miller.The Bronze A Division was won by Shane Lyon with 39 points finishing eight points ahead of 2nd placed Hazel Munyard. Carol Miller was a point further back in 3rd whilst 4th place went to Sandra Sydenham with 29 points.In the Bronze B Division Angela Ward came out on top with 41 points, four ahead of Frances Hurrell (37). Count-back was again used to determine 3rd and 4th spots with Deirdre Mackness pipping Liz Gordon, both players finishing on 29 points.
