Bower wins Longman Cup

IN the August Croquet Tournament recently, Budleigh Club member, Tony Bower, achieved his first triple peel in competitive play on the way to claiming the Longman Cup, writes Charles Townshend.

IN the August Croquet Tournament recently, Budleigh Club member, Tony Bower, achieved his first triple peel in competitive play on the way to claiming the Longman Cup, writes Charles Townshend.

Bower claimed a +25 victory over Nigel Amos in the final of the B level event.

The triple won him a Croquet Association Gold Award and the tournament's peeling prize. He also triumphed in the Golf Croquet Competition, beating Tournament Manager, Mike Town, 7-5, 7-2 in the final.

Tony is well on his way to a place in the final of the Club's Championship which will be played to a conclusion in the next week or two.
