IT HAS been a week of mixed fortunes for Budleigh bowlers, writes Don Huish.
The week commenced with a visit to Honiton, where, of the six rinks of mixed triples, three won and one drew.
The most impressive winning margin was recorded by Pat Harvey, Ralph Lawson and John Dill with a score of 21 shots to nine.
The skips of Celia Mangeng (+8) and Joan Shaw (+ 5) also contributed to the 105-88 shot victory.
Three days later Honiton exacted their revenge in a County Trophy match, winning 95-80.
Budleigh's sole winning rink was that of Jeff Rigg, Mike Reader, Gerry Roberts and Ron Tyler who were never headed after the completion of the fifth end and finished 25-17.
There was a friendly engagement with Phear Park that was won by the visitors to a score of 80-71.
The home side's only success was a 26-22 victory by George Woolacott, Derek Stanley, Tony Lim and Gerry Roberts, who, 14- 2 up after eight ends, held off a strong late challenge.
