THE past week was certainly a busy one at Madeira with three home matches and one away, writes Ron Stares.

The away encounter was at Dawlish Warren where Madeira were engaged in quite a tussle before emerging with a 104-74 (30+) victory.

The best of the Madeira rinks was that of Mike Orchard (skip), Janet Allen, Alan Halpin and Keith Smith who won their game by nine shots.

The first of the home matches saw a local derby against Phear Park and this was another close encounter which ended with Madeira landing a thirteen shot victory at 72-59.

The best Madeira rink on the day was that of Colin Shaw (skip), Vic Doidge, Mike Bowman and Tim Bevan.

Next up came a visit from Chudleigh and this saw the visitors depart with a 94-78 win. The best performing Madeira rink was that of John Bellamy (skip), Roy Marshall, Dorothy Mott and Keith Ewins.

The third and final team to visit were Brayside in a game that produced some very high scoring eventually won by Madeira at 244-199.

The most successful Madeira rink in the game was that skipped by John Bellamy who landed a 34-9 victory.
