Assent see off CTC in Exmouth Netball League meeting

Assent were 34-14 victors when they met CTC, writes Louise Passmore.

Due to the cold weather the match got off to a slow start, but it was not long before the action warmed up! The first quarter was pretty even despite Assent starting without a WD. There were lots of turnovers by the centres Nicole Thackray of Assent and Julie Ann Clements of CTC keeping the play mostly in the centre third of the court.

In the second and third quarters Assent pulled ahead after a seventh player arrived. There was some great shooting by both Rachel Cotton and Sarah Northcott leaving few errors for the CTC defence to pick up despite superb defending.

Assent managed to read the game well and pass the ball swiftly up the court taking advantage of quick passes around the circle to pull far enough ahead to eventually win the match 34-14.

However, the match was closer than the score suggests with CTC never giving up. Every shot was fought for with some great defending by the Catherine Stuckey despite slippery conditions on court.
