Local karate kid Sid Harry has made Exmouth proud by securing first place at the National Championships.
The event was held at Nottingham University's David Ross Sports Village in late April, drawing talent from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland.
Representing his hometown and Exmouth Karate Academy, Sid showcased extraordinary skill and discipline despite his young age.
Competing in the Boys' Novice—Purple to White Belt—kata category, Sid triumphed through several challenging rounds to secure his spot in the finals, where he performed in front of a packed arena to earn the national title.
Sid's journey to victory was shaped by his dedication and perseverance, training hard in the dojo under the guidance of his coach, sensei Kevin Berry and fellow instructors.
As Sid embarks on his continued competitive journey, he remains focused on the pursuit of excellence, often saying, "Karate is a way of life".
Exmouth Karate Academy trains every Wednesday evening at 6.30 pm at the Cranford Sports Club in Exmouth, and Thursday evening at 6pm at Clyst st Mary Village Hall.
Students of age eight plus and all abilities (from beginner to black belt) are welcome.
