A fixture rearranged for a third time proved unlucky for Exmouth RFC, as they went down 44-5 at Launceston.

It wasn’t until late in the game that Jake Inglis scored Exmouth’s only try. The hosts led at half-time 20-0. They then scored four further tries in the second half to complete a dismal outing in Cornwall.

On to a final outing at Lydney RFC on Saturday, April 6, the fourth away game in a row to close out their League season.

Exmouth Quins made the short trip to Torquay Athletic RFC 1st Team and also came away empty-handed. A solitary try and conversion from Sam Whitehead was all they could register in a 59-7 loss.

The effort from the lads, against the top placed club first-team in the league, was undeniable. Small errors from a team that has not played together for some weeks was a contributory factor to giving up so much ball, and the scoring ran away in the final quarter of the game. On to a final home game on Saturday, April 6, against Exeter Saracens RFC 1st Team.

The Cockles will face Brixham RFC in a Senior Devon Cup home and away two leg semi-final to be played out on Saturday, April 13 and Saturday, April 20. Venue and kick-off times to be confirmed in due course.

Exmouth Colts have enjoyed a strong first season to date, enjoying an impressive 10 wins from 10 games. On Saturday, a 24-19 victory over Plymstock Albion Oaks was another tremendous result in a friendly against a team from the league above.

The Exmouth youngsters now head to a Devon Colts Bowl semi-final with Wellington Colts on Saturday, April 6. A home game, they will be looking to win to advance to the final, played later in the month.

Head Coach Simon Tate, in his inaugural Colts season, already has one eye on next season, all part of developing the Cockles young players. With the input of the senior coaching team, the lads have grown in confidence this term and Simon is the right person to continue to lead Exmouth Rugby Colts, as the lads set their sights on the next league above for the 24-25 campaign.
