East Budleigh completed a league double over opponents Bow last Saturday with a comfortable 4-0 victory at Vicarage Road, writes Mark Auton.

In awful wet and windy conditions, the Jays that went close early on with Jack Greenslade seeing his shot tipped on to the bar. An injury to Callum Liddle saw Budleigh have to shuffle their back line, but James Bridge, Ryan Britton, Guy Laverock and Sam Balbi all did well.

Budleigh eventually took the lead on the half hour; Toby and Brad Hill both involved before Jack Howarth scored at the second attempt.

Just after the hour, the hosts were two ahead with Brad Hill sweeping the ball into the net, before the third arrived courtesy of Dan Atkinson. Goalkeeper Jack England cleared, Player of the Match Rian Hill held the ball up for Atkinson to dribble forward and fire in a fine finish.

With the last kick of the game Rian Hill set up Greenslade who drilled the ball into the roof of the net.

East Budleigh Reserves returned to action last Saturday with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Lyme Regis in Division 3. Nathan Penhallurick scored a hat-trick, Dan Atkinson claimed three assists and Ioan Harding had an excellent game for the home side.

The Jays started slowly but took the lead midway through the half. Harding began and finished a move that also involved Penhallurick and Atkinson.  Owen Corrick went closest to a second as the teams went into the break.

After the restart, three Budleigh goals in the space of 10 minutes put the game out of reach for the away side; Atkinson held the ball up for Penhallurick who emphatically found the back of the net.

Six minutes later, the pair were at it again to make it three, before a free-kick from Tom Christian was headed on by Lewis Fletcher and Ryan Britton applied the final touch. The final and fifth goal came courtesy of a mistake from the visiting ‘keeper, who gave the ball to Penhallurick for his third.
