Budleigh Salterton and Elmore shared the points and six goals in a cracking Devon Football League encounter on Saturday.

The Robins twice threw away a two-goal lead in a game they should have won, which started with an opening goal on 12 minutes, Jack Manning breaking down the right to cross for Jack Hocking to convert.

The lead was doubled after the break, when the visitors failed to clear from a corner and Hocking was in the right place to prod home his second. Elmore replied almost immediately after a sloppy clearance from the Budleigh defence.

The Robins restored their two-goal lead when Liam West fizzed a shot into the corner from an angle but Elmore refused to lie down, reducing the arrears from a set-piece and they grabbed an equaliser from the penalty spot on 79 minutes.

Budleigh face a long trip to Barnstaple Town 2nds on the weekend.

In the Devon & Exeter League, there was a cracking local derby between East Budleigh 2nds and Budleigh Salterton 2nds.

The Jays of East Budleigh produced the performance of the season to beat the table-toppers, with ‘keeper Reggie Kew the Player of the match.

It was the home side that led on 18 minutes; Tom Christian with the goal following misjudgement a from the visiting ‘keeper. Three minutes later, Christian struck again with a fine finish into the roof of the net after Tapp’s cross had been cleared.

On 27 minutes, Kew produced a great save down low to his right to preserve the 2-0 lead. Budleigh came out after the break with renewed enthusiasm, but that was quashed when East Budleigh went three ahead; Ioan Harding with the assist for Dan Atkinson who kept his head to score a goal his efforts deserved.

The East Budleigh defence of Lewis Fletcher, Joe Day and Owen Corrick were sharp in the challenge ably supported by captain Ben Wiltshire in front. Joe Bagley grabbed a consolation late on, but it was East Budleigh’s day.

East Budleigh firsts were beaten 4-2 by a very good Exeter University side: Rian and Toby Hill getting the goals.
