Budleigh Bowls Club held their annual Indoors Triples match of Men vs Ladies.
Six men, led by Club Captain Tony Mackness, played on two rinks against a strong ladies team that was looking for revenge after being beaten earlier in the season.
The games were played over 16 Ends and at the halfway point Tony’s threesome on Rink 1 held a comfortable lead, whilst on Rink 2 the match was all square.
Following a break for tea and mince pies, the team led by Jackey Phillips on Rink 1 found their form, enjoying five shots on the penultimate End. This made for an exciting finish and with 1 end to play, it looked as if the Ladies would claim a victory.
However, the final Wood from John Sheppard on Rink 1 upset matters and the Men claimed a victory of 17-15. Meanwhile on Rink 2, the Men scraped through with a win of 14-13.
