Budleigh Salterton are finally finding their feet in the Devon Football League season, as they cruised past Ipplepen Athletic with a composed 3-0 victory, writes Alan Beer.

The Robins started brightly, pressing the Ipplepen defence and got their reward on 15 minutes, when Jack Hocking supplied a lovely cross from the right for Oscar Walsh to add a rare header to his repertoire.

The game remained fairly even until Budleigh went close through Jake Chudley, grazing the outside of the post with a decent strike and they continued that momentum after the break.

Chudley and Max May combined nicely down the right for Hocking to add his customary goal, and Ipplepen’s race was run ten minutes from time, when Morgan Pearce, on as a substitute after injury, finished off a cross from Ryan Fell.

The Robins take on Topsham Town on Wednesday night and then travel to Mount Gould on the weekend, which will be a testing encounter for the improving Budleigh side. However, it has been a positive couple of weeks for the club, and confidence is clearly growing.

It turned out to be a very successful weekend for the teams of Budleigh Salterton Football Club, writes SpursTom.  The pick of the bunch being the women team, who in the Devon Women’s League, comfortably progressed to the next round of the League Cup.

They thrashed Seaton Women 7 (seven) 0 (nil) after being 3-0 up at the break. The players on target were Maisie Smith (2), with one each from Jen Cordwell, Kirsty Brown, Shannon Gilmour, Lucy Burch and Jodie Millett, who’s performance was rewarded with that seventh goal. The margin of victory should have been greater, but too many chances were wasted. Stronger opponents await ahead.

In the “Bill Slee Cup”, the men representing Budleigh Salterton 2nd are through to the next stage of the competition’ after a hard-fought encounter away at Broadclyst.  The result was a tight one, but the Robins came away triumphant with a 2-1 victory.  Successfully finding the back of the net were Connor Howe and Will Price.
