Exmouth Town now know they will start their Southern League Division One South campaign with a home fixture against Evesham United on Saturday, August 12.

Last year, goals from Aarron Denny, Jordan Harris, Levi Landricombe and an own goal gave Town a 4-1 win in the corresponding fixture but Evesham triumphed in the reverse match, 2-0.

Town continued their pre-season campaign last week with a convincing 4-0 victory at Buckland Athletic but suffered a 1-0 loss at home to the Welsh side Llantwit Major.

A fine 20-yard strike from Mike Landricombe and a cool finish from Callum Shipton gave Town a 2-0 half-time lead at Buckland before a penalty converted by James Richards and a goal from Ben Steer completed the scoring in the second half.

A swirling, blustery wind tended to spoil the game last Saturday, when the Welsh side won the match with a solitary goal scored three minutes into the second half. Both games provided Town with the opportunity to give further experience to their younger players and also to have a look at a couple of players new to the area, who have had Southern League experience.

The warm-up matches continue this week when the Royal Marines are the visitors tonight (Wednesday), kick-off 7.30pm, and Town are home again on Saturday against Okehampton Argyle, kick-off 3pm.

On Thursday evening (July20 ), Exmouth Town FC will be holding a sponsors evening at the clubhouse in Southern Road.

The football club will be using the evening to welcome new and old partners of Exmouth Town to see the facility and have a chance to catch up with members of the ETFC organisation. Doors open at 7pm, with a welcome drink and buffet on offer for guests.

As a part of the evening, Town will be showcasing the various partnerships on offer for the 2023-24 season. These vary from player sponsorship to match and match-ball sponsorship. There are also various advertising board sponsorships, such as the new wall topping scheme and larger Wall boarding.

If you would like any information, please contact ETFC commercial director Adam Fitzgerald on 07793 731898. As with all local football clubs, support and partnerships with the business community are crucial to the development of the grassroots game.
