Exmouth Town kick-off their pre-season friendlies with an attractive home fixture this Friday (July 7) against Truro City kick off at their Circle of Care Community Stadium is 7.45pm.

The “White Tigers” gained promotion to the National League South for this season (where they will play the likes of Torquay United and Yeovil Town) via the play offs defeating Poole Town 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw and then in the play-off final winning 3-2 at Bracknell Town who had finished runners-up to Weston Super Mare in the normal league season.

Truro have looked to bolster their squad with the signings of Billy Palfrey and Dan Rooney from Plymouth Parkway and James Melhado, a young defender released by Salford City.

Town will then be back in action on Tuesday evening (July 11) when they travel to Homers Heath, home of Western League outfit Buckland Athletic kick off 7.30pm.

The Newton Abbot-based side appear to be making a strong push for promotion to the Southern League this season with a string of new signings, all experienced players, including Teigan Rosenquest (Tiverton Town), Callum Watson and Josh Grant (Tavistock), plus three from Saltash United, who finished runners-up in the Western League last season.

This Friday, Town should know who they will be playing in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy with details of the draws being released on this day. The first two rounds of the FA Cup are scheduled for August 5 and 19, with the FA Trophy matches scheduled to be played on September 9 and 23.

The club are also eagerly awaiting the release of their fixtures in their Southern League Division One South, where they will be visiting new grounds in Bemerton Heath Harlequins, ( Salisbury) and Malvern Town (Worcestershire), as well as locking horns once again with new sides to the league this season Mousehole, Cribbs and Yate Town.

Manager Kevin Hill has confirmed that all of last year’s playing squad have been retained for the new season and it remains to be seen if there are any new additions to the squad, who may feature in the pre-season friendlies.

One thing guaranteed at Southern Road is another rollercoaster football season, packed with the normal thrills and spills.
