Budleigh Bowls Club hosted their first touring team of the new outdoor season.
Westlecot, which is based near Swindon, brought 18 players to play a Mixed Triples match against Budleigh. Westlecot use Sidmouth as the base for their annual trip and play several local Bowls Clubs during their stay.
The match at Budleigh was played over 18 Ends and at the break for tea, all six of the Budleigh teams were losing. The tea and biscuits worked wonders for the Budleigh team of Annie Clarke, Tony Mackness (Club Captain) and Andy Skudder, who were playing against the team of Julie Shakespeare (Captain), Babs Salter and Angela Harrison. The Budleigh trio achieved the only victory for the Home Club 16-12.
Westlecot comfortably won the other five games and the overall result was a victory for Westlecot by 132-68. Tony commented: “We always look forward to the annual game with Westlecot and they were certainly on form this year.”
