Exeter Chiefs and Scotland international full-back has announced he will retire from professional rugby after the World Cup this autumn.

Hogg is 31 in the summer but will depart from the Chiefs and the rugby scene to pursue a new career. He was famously part of the Exeter squad that won the Premiership and European Champions Cup double in 2019-20.

Hogg told the BBC: "I don't feel my body can achieve the standards that I set myself for much longer.

“Rugby has allowed me to meet some incredible characters, make lifelong friends, travel the world and be part of some unbelievable experiences that I will cherish forever," he said.

"Knowing what lies ahead, I have a real hunger to play the best, most enjoyable rugby of my career, finishing the season strongly with Exeter Chiefs before attacking the opportunity we, as a nation, have in France."
