Budleigh Bowls Club Men hosted Axminster in the final match of their Indoor season.
In a Triples match played over 18 Ends and on Rink 1, the Budleigh trio of Nick Jones, John Shepherd and Norman Upchurch got off to a flying start and at the halfway point were leading by 14:4. The break for tea worked wonders for the Axminster team, which went on to win by the narrowest of margins 20:19.
The team of Tony Mackness (Club Captain), Tony Lim and Andy Skudder got off to a slow start, and after 9 Ends were losing 3:13. The Budleigh trio gradually clawed back the deficit but ended up the losers by 14:19. The overall result was a win for Axminster of 39:33.
Bob Sherbourne, Axminster Captain, said: "Following the closure of our Indoor Rinks, we enjoy visiting other Clubs to play on their Indoor Rinks, and we look forward to playing the Budleigh team Outdoors later in the year."
