East Budleigh ‘B’ have secured their first Exmouth Snooker League Championship following their 4-1 win against the Police Social Club ‘B’.

Following their inaugural season last year, when they finished in an impressive third position, the team of David Freer, Stuart Laws, Jamie Gulliford, Duane Greenslade and Shaun New have a seven-points winning margin with just one match to complete this season.

Police ‘D’ will be clear runners-up as their team of Iain Callander, Craig Wilson, Kevin Proctor, John Sharland, Dan Brown and Dave Lance tried their utmost to stay in contention with 4-1 wins against the Police ‘B’ and Police ‘C’ respectively.

They are currently ten points ahead of defending champions, Police ‘A’, despite them winning their penultimate match on the East Budleigh ‘A’ table with Steve Spinner 69-31, Pete Abrahams 86-74, Mike Delahaye 78-56 and Rob Pow 62-27. Bert Savage 57-32 won the third frame, but, this may be not enough for last season’s runners-up, East Budleigh ‘A’ to receive the wooden spoon. They sit at the foot of the table, two points behind the Police ‘B’, effectively three points, when matches won are taken into consideration.
