McDonald’s franchisee, David Shawyer, who runs and operates four restaurants in the Exeter and Exmouth area, has sponsored the under 7s youth team for Exmouth Town FC. The sponsorship will help support the non-league youth team by funding new kits for the year ahead.

David and his restaurants have been supporting grassroots football in the local community as part of McDonald’s Fun Football programme for many years. The local restaurants have donated 20 full kits and boot bags to the club, alongside additional training equipment, all of which has been match-funded by Tom Barnsley, Senior Sports Sponsorship Manager at McDonald’s UK&I.

Local McDonald’s franchisee David Shawyer, who owns and operates four restaurants in the Exeter area, said: “Youth football is really important for our community, which is why we support local teams through each restaurant, and I’m delighted to help support Exmouth Town Under 7s by providing the new kits and training equipment. I look forward to seeing the team enjoy playing their upcoming fixtures.”

Ben Dwyer, the Under 7s Head Coach for Exmouth Town FC stated: “The Under 7s Exmouth Town Football Club is hugely grateful to McDonald’s for their sponsorship and supply of playing kit for our teams. The support of McDonald’s will allow us to continue to keep our membership fees low and give access to youth football regardless of background and ability. We look forward to working with McDonald’s to continue to provide a safe and fun environment for children to play football.”

McDonald’s is the longest-standing supporter of grassroots football in the UK and has worked with the Home Nation Football Associations for 20 years. Now in its 20th year, McDonald’s, alongside the Irish FA, Scottish FA, and Football Association of Wales, makes its biggest commitment to grassroots football by doubling the size of the new Fun Football programme.

McDonald’s Fun Football sessions will take place across the entire UK with the next wave starting in June. To find a Fun Football session local to you visit www.mcdonalds.co.uk/football.
