On Saturday, the annual Ladies versus the Gents Triples match was played at Budleigh Salterton Bowls Club. In 2021, the Ladies had enjoyed a conclusive victory and were looking forward to a similar result this year.
The game was played over 18 Ends and at the halfway point, there was little difference in the scores. The break for tea and cakes seemed to work wonders for the Gents and on Rink 1, the team of Tony Mackness (Club Captain) Tony Lim and John Shepherd enjoyed a victory of 16-11 over Melisa Camp, Di Dixon and Jackey Phillips.
Whilst on Rink 2, the team of Mike Clark, Andy Skudder and Norman Upchurch came from behind to win 18-13 over the team of Mo Bond, Annie Clarke and Ann Vincent.
Tony Mackness commented: "It is these friendly games that make the sport so enjoyable. It is a sport that players can play well into their senior years and one example is Tony Lim, who enjoys his 94th Birthday on December 14. Happy Birthday Tony, from all our members."
