Withycombe conjured a second-half display from the rugby Gods to secure an enthralling 26-23 victory over Exeter Saracens.
Withy started brightly enough, Ben White pouncing on a Sarries error to open the scoring. Harry Symons added the conversion. The visitors replied with a similar try of their own and edged in front with a penalty.
Sarries bagged two further penalties and the Withies limped into half-time with a 7-16 deficit. The afternoon got worse before it got better, as Exeter extended their advantage to 16 points with a further try.
From somewhere deep within, the hosts salvaged momentum and a strong set of phases, led by the powerful pack, opened the door for Joe Blyth to notch his sixth try of the season.
Neil Williams then spotted a gap in the Sarries’ defence to make it 19-23 and a top victory arrived when constant Withycombe pressure led to a decisive penalty try.
