On Saturday, Phear Park held the annual John Tucker Trophy competition, a knockout event with all members playing on an equal basis. It is played over four rounds with each round consisting of up to ten ends. This means that the finalists will have played up to 40 ends over nearly five hours and 160 shots.

The winner this year was Mike Killoran and runner-up Keith Blister, who were congratulated by club President Liz Nelson.

Phear Park were due to have travelled to Uffculme last Tuesday for a friendly match, sadly this was cancelled due to the inclement weather.

However, the club did play a friendly against Paignton, who visited the Park on Thursday, despite the fact that it rained nearly all the way through. After fourteen of the scheduled eighteen ends, the match was called off for safety reasons, only for the sunshine to reappear ten minutes afterwards.
