Exmouth gained a point on Francis Clark Devon league leaders Bovey Tracey with a 19 point win at Sidmouth.

The home side won the toss and opted to bat and George Greenway struck in his very first over to send opener Anderson back to the pavilion.

Jamie Tapper was the next bowler to strike, trapping Cooke leg before with the score on 64 and it was quickly 78-3 as Tapper clean bowled Lewis (5).

Akeel Hosein was next to bag a wicket as he bowled Josh Bess (39).

Greenway then returned to the attack to bag a quick-fire brace and that was also the wicket haul for both Trevor Anning and Max Curtis, the latter responsible for finally ending the impressive knock of Anthony Griffiths who top scored with 61 from a near three hour stay at the wicket.

The final Sidmouth wicket fell on 205 in the 48th over.

Max Curtis and Barney Huxtable began the run chase but were parted on 33 with Curtis run-out.

There were then rare failures for David Lye caught for 19 and skipper Richard Baggs (1) before Andrew Buzza came to the wicket. Buzza entered the fray at 62-4 and departed it at 127-6 with his own offering a splendid knock of 34.

The match winning innings though was played by Akeal Hosein who faced just 55 deliveries in an 89 minute stay at the wicket during which time he hit three 4s and two 6s on his way to an unbeaten 64 as the run chase was timed to perfection with three balls of the contest remaining and Exmouth winning on 209-8.

On Saturday Exmouth entertain the side who start the day immediately below them in the table, Bradninch.
