With the Outdoor season of bowls well and truly under way at the home of Budleigh bowls, the club is looking to open its doors to new members with a series of open club afternoons, starting this coming Friday, June 18 at 2pm until 4pm at Cricket Field Lane EX9 6SY and extending throughout the summer.
The message to anyone interested is just turn up at the club and try your hand at this great game in a safe, relaxed and social atmosphere.
Club bowls are available and we just ask that you wear flat soled shoes. Coaching is available and there will be refreshments available to see you through the afternoon.
Budleigh Bowls Club, which offers both Outdoor play in the summer and Indoor play throughout the year, have roll ups during the week and play friendly and competitive matches against local clubs.
You can choose how involved you become in the club but rest assured whatever you choose you will have an enjoyable time. Bowls is a fantastic sport for making friends and enjoying some pleasant competitive action.
If you can’t make it or wish to discuss what is on offer, then please ring David Roberts Club Secretary on 07887 601619 when we can arrange alternative times.
In action on the green over the past week, Paul Griffin and David Roberts just failed to record a remarkable comeback in the Devon Section Three Unbadged Pairs competition, as they lost to Gerard McCarthy and Chris Hawke of Ottery by two shots 21-23, having been 1-10 down after seven ends.
In the Devon Section Three Over 60s, David exited the competition in the first round 6-21, as he failed to come to terms with the green at the Madeira club but also the accuracy of his opponent Jim Wherlock, who was in great form.
The club can now turn their attention to friendly fixtures away to Exonia and Pinces Gardens over the coming week.
