BUDLEIGH Salterton police are appealing for witnesses after two teenagers attempted to rob a woman suffering with cancer, last week.

The woman was walking along an alleyway towards Queens Road when two teenage boys, believed to be aged around 17 years old, began following her and harassing her to hand over her mobile phone and money.

The incident took place on Wednesday August 11, at around 10am.

The woman kept her distance from the youths until they turned in a different direction.

Budleigh Salterton community support officer Malcolm Maguire said: "The lady in question found this incident extremely upsetting and distressing, especially as she has just completed a course of chemotherapy.

"Officers at Budleigh police station are naturally taking this incident very seriously and would like to hear from any member of the public, who may have some information regarding this."
