Young musicians to perform in the Proms

THE Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra has been awarded the highest accolade by being selected to play in the Schools' Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, in London. The orchestra, which has played to packed Exmouth audiences at Manor Gardens, was chosen by Music for Youth to appear in the final of its three Schools' Proms.This is the first time an ensemble run by the Devon County Council's Music Service has been selected. Brian Moore, the manager of the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, said: "I was absolutely gobsmacked when I received the phone call asking if we'd like to take Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra up to London to play in the Schools' Proms.
